Hey, it’s Jeremie Kubicek here.

We’re excited to have you for this week’s edition of the Relational Intelligence at Work newsletter, where every Tuesday you’ll get an email straight to your inbox from me or my business partner, Steve Cockram.

This newsletter's primary goal is to support you on your personal growth journey, and to equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to excel as a leader.

For today’s message, I want to share a step-by-step process for how you can become a leader worth following, and be the best version of yourself for your team, your family, and the people around you.

So, let's dive in...

Before we get into the message, a quick word from today's sponsor:

Consider bringing Jeremie Kubicek, the co-founder of GiANT, into your team or organization to share the 5 Code Words of Communication and watch the performance of your teams improve overnight.

In Steve and I’s book, The Communication Code, we share the process of how someone can learn to grow in their ability to communicate well with others and improve their relationships overnight.

There is a series of steps and realizations someone must go through to reach the point of being a great communicator.

Just like with communication, becoming a leader worth following is a skill that can be developed over time through intentional, deliberate practice.

So, here are 8 steps you can follow to learn to become a leader worth following and maximize your leadership capabilities:

1. Understand Your Wiring

To become a leader worth following, you must start by understanding your innate strengths, weaknesses, and characteristics. Learn how your personality, values, and preferences shape your leadership style.

One of the best ways to get started here is to take the personality test (if you haven't already), the 5 Voices Assessment. You will get crucial insight into your leadership and communication style.

2. Create Space to Reflect

As a leader of an organization or team, life is busy and things seem to never slow down. If you want to become a leader worth following, improve your self-awareness, and improve your relational intelligence, you must make time forintentional self-reflection.

The Peace Index Assessment allows you to understand how you perform during chaos and gives you tools and exercises to increase your self-awareness.

3. Learn Your Tendencies

Understanding your tendencies is crucial to developing the self-awareness you need to grow as a leader. In times of stress, conflict, or success, what are your default responses?

Understanding these default tendencies allows you to become a proactive leader and learn from your actions.

4. Understand Your Patterns

After tendencies come patterns. You must recognize the patterns that are positively or negatively affecting your leadership capabilities.

To grow as a leader, you need to become aware of your patterns and not let the negative patterns repeat themselves.

5. Trade Up Your Actions

The magic happens when you align your beliefs and values with your actions. Ask yourself, “What would a true leader do?”

If you’re not acting like a leader every day, you’re not going to reach your leadership potential. Start building the habits of highly effective leaders.

6. Lead Yourself

Real leadership starts with leading yourself. You must build discipline and resilience, adopt a growth mindset… and hold yourself accountable to what you say you’re going to do.

Set meaningful goals, seek continuous learning opportunities, and exhibit the qualities you expect from your team.

7. Change Your Reality

One of the biggest factors that separates good leaders from great leaders is their mindset. Limiting beliefs destroy more dreams than taking action and failing ever will.

You must challenge any limiting beliefs you have and redefine your perspective for what’s possible. Adopt a leadership style that embraces change and encourages innovation within your team.

8. Share Your Ahas with Others

To become a leader worth following, you need to create an environment around you of openness and shared learning. Share your personal realizations and insights and encourage your team to do the same.

Vulnerability and transparency build trust like nothing else… so learn to embrace it.

By following these 8 steps listed above, you will transform into a leader who not only understands themselves but also inspires others through authentic, purposeful leadership.

That's all for today's message. Thanks for reading!

Until next time,

Jeremie Kubicek
